Day 1

Arrival in Mexico City

According to your time of arrival you are picked up from the airport in Mexico City and brought to your hotel. Overnight stay. (Meals: None)

Day 2

City Tour & Anthropological Museum (Small group)

After breakfast you are taken on a city tour. Stroll the beautiful historic center of this metropolitan capital and visit the impressive Zocalo with its famous Cathedral as well as the Government Palace with its impressive murals by Diego Riviera, amongst others. To make the city tour perfect, it finishes with an informative visit of the Anthropological Museum which is situated on the brink of the Chapultepec Park. Learn about the interesting history and culture of Mexico´s many pre-Hispanic civilizations. Afterwards you are brought back to your hotel. In the afternoon you have the chance to explore Mexico City on your own. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 3

Pyramids of Teotihuacán & Basílica de Guadalupe (Small group)

Today you are off towards the impressive archeological site of Teotihuacán that is situated approximately 50km Northeast of the city. Spread over 22km², it is the largest city of ruins in Latin America and the majority of it has yet to be excavated. You definitely should not miss out on climbing up the Sun and Moon Pyramids, as they provide an imposing view of the „City of the Gods“. Then you continue on to the Basilica de Guadalupe, Mexico’s most famous pilgrimage site. Admire the intricate gold decorations inside the Basilica before being brought back to your hotel. Day 4

Tour to the Popocatepetl Volcano (Private)

After breakfast you will head towards the Popocatepetl volcano and on the way there take a short break in the charming village of Amecameca. Continue to the Paso Cortez, which at 3700 meters above sea level has an amazing view of the volcanoes. If you feel like it, you can go on a little hike or just enjoy the unique atmosphere. On your way back there is another little stopover in Tlamacas before being brought back to your hotel in Mexico City. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 5

Mexico City – Bernal & Tequisquiapan – Querétaro (Private)

Today you are picked up after breakfast and taken North (approx. 200 km). The first stop is the small colonial town of Bernal that is situated in the Sierra Gorda of Querétaro. Here you will climb up the notorious 288 meter high monolith Peña de Bernal which is the third highest in the world. It is said to have magical powers and to grant a long life to those who climb up to the top. Afterwards you have some time left to take a closer look at the charming village and to try some of the traditional Gorditas (corn dumplings with your choice of filling). Afterwards, visit Tequisquiapan, another colonial town famous for its handicrafts and large artesenia market before being brought to your hotel in Queretaro. Explore the beautiful historical center of this immaculately maintained colonial city. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 6

Querétaro – Puebla & Cholula – Oaxaca (Private)

After breakfast your private tour guide takes you to Puebla, a city with colonial charm, full of history and famous for its location in the middle of four volcanoes. In Puebla itself, take part in a city tour, during which you will see all the important sites and landmarks the city has to offer. Before departing for Oaxaca, you will visit the colorful Temple Santa María Tonantzintla with its beautifully intricate façade and afterwards the famous pyramid of Cholula. You will arrive in Oaxaca late in the evening (approx. 345 km). Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 7

Tule, Mitla & Hierve el Agua (Small group)

After breakfast enjoy a quick stop at the world’s widest tree, the Tree of Tule, before continuing on to visit the archaeological site of Mitla with its ornate geometric mosaics. After exploring these ruins continue to the limestone waterfalls of Hierve el Agua, where you can take a refreshing dip in the mineral rich water with a breathtaking view of the surrounding area and the waterfalls. Relaxed and refreshed, return to Oaxaca where you can use the evening to give the regional specialties a try. Oaxaca is famous for mezcal, dried grasshoppers, delicious mole dishes and the typical chocolate from the region. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 8

Monte Albán, City Tour Oaxaca – San Cristóbal (Small group)

After breakfast visit Monte Albán, the most distinguished archeological site of the region. Many years ago, Aldous Huxley, an American writer, was fascinated by this Zapotec city that is situated on an artificially flattened mountain. It will definitely impress you, too. Discover the site’s temples, pyramids, and ballcourts. Return to Oaxaca for your city tour through the colonial center. During your tour you will visit all the “must see” sites of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the evening you are brought to the bus terminal from where you will take the first class bus to San Cristobal de las Casas at 20:30. Overnight trip. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 9

Cañon del Sumidero (Small group)

At around 7:00 am arrive at your hotel in San Cristóbal de las Casas where you have just enough time for a quick breakfast before visiting the famous and immense Cañyon del Sumidero which at its highest point reaches 1000 meters. There you will enjoy an exciting boat tour through the canyon, where an exotic world of flora and fauna is waiting for you. Afterwards you will continue to the colonial village Chiapa del Corzo where you can visit the beautiful church and still have enough time to enjoy your lunch. From Chiapa del Corzo you will head to San Cristóbal de las Casas. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 10

Lagos de Montebello & El Chiflón (Small group)

In the early morning visit Amate Nango del Valle, a typical Maya Tzeltal Village, which is famous for its ceramic art. Afterwards, visit the nature reserve of Lagos de Montebello, where you can admire five of the more than 50 lakes. From here you will visit „El Chiflón“, at 70 meters it is the highest and one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Chiapas. Here you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the crystal clear water before being brought back to San Cristóbal. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 11

San Cristóbal – Agua Azul & Misol Há – Palenque (Small group)

In the early morning you will visit the beautiful waterfalls of Agua Azul. Start your day with a refreshing dip in the turquoise shimmering water and the delicious taste of the famous empanadas. From here your tour leads to the impressive waterfalls of Misol Ha. Enjoy a final dip in the tranquil pool below the waterfalls before continuing on to Palenque where you will visit the famous archeological site of Palenque. It is not the largest, but it is definitely one of the most beautiful of the Maya cities because of its architectural fantasy and harmony with nature being found in the middle of the tropical jungle. Explore these unique ruins before being returned to your hotel. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast on the tour)

Day 12

Yaxchilan & Bonampak (Small group)

At 6:00am you will be picked up to visit the archeological site Yaxchilan which is located deep in the Lacandon forest (approx. 2.5 hr drive). An exciting 22 km boat ride takes you to this mysterious Maya site. Afterwards visit the archeological site Bonampak, particularly famous for its well conserved wall paintings. These sites are rarely visited by tourists which allows for exciting encounters with monkeys and other animals. After this jungle adventure you are brought back to your hotel in Palenque. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast & lunch on the tour)

Day 13

Palenque – Campeche

In the morning, take a taxi to the bus station in Palenque where you will continue by bus to Campeche. Once in Campeche take a taxi to your hotel and use the rest of the day to discover the little fishing village with its colourful houses on your own or simply relax and enjoy a trip back in time in this colonial city. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 14

Campeche – Uxmal & Hacienda Yaxcopoil – Mérida (Private)

After breakfast, visit the archaeological site of Uxmal, which is the Yucatan’s most important archeological excavation, apart from Chichen Itza. Continue to the Hacienda Yaxcopoil for a trip back in time in this beautifully restored 22,000 acre former plantation. Visit the museum and stroll around the magnificently restored Hacienda. Afterwards, continue to Mérida, better known as the „white city“ where you will have a quick city tour before being brought to your hotel. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 15

Mérida – Chichén Itzá – Playa del Carmen / Cancun (Private)

After breakfast visit Chichen Itza, one of the Seven Wonders of the World and Mexico’s most famous and magnificently restored archeological excavation for a guided tour. Admire the monumental Kukulkan pyramid, which is also known as “El Castillo” and a variety of other impressive constructions this magical place has to offer. Depending on the rest of your vacation you are brought to your hotel in Playa del Carmen or Cancun. (Transfer to the airport or Tulum available upon request at an extra charge).
