Travel by bus throughout this colourful country with the option of adding on day trips in any of the locations.

Day 1

Arrival in Mexico City

According to your time of arrival you are picked up from the airport or bus station in Mexico City and brought to your hotel. Overnight stay. (Meals: none)

Day 2

City Tour & Anthropological Museum (OPTIONAL)

After breakfast you are taken on a city tour. You will visit the huge Zocalo with its famous Cathedral and the Government Palace with its impressive murals by Diego Riviera, amongst others. To make the city tour perfect, it finishes with an informative visit of the Anthropological Museum which is situated on the brink of the Chapultepec Park. Afterwards you are brought back to your hotel. In the afternoon you have the chance to discover Mexico City on your own. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 3

Pyramids of Teotihuacán & Basílica de Guadalupe (OPTIONAL)

Today you are off towards the impressive archeological site of Teotihuacán that is situated about 65 kilometers away from the city. It is the largest city of ruins in Latin America covering 22km² and a large portion is still yet to be excavated. You definitely should not miss out on climbing up the Sun and Moon Pyramids, as they provide an imposing view of the „City of the Gods“. Then, continue on to the Basilica de Guadalupe, Mexico’s most famous pilgrimage site before being brought back to your hotel. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 4

Mexico City – Querétaro (Bus ride)

According to your departure you will take a cab to the bus station in Mexico City. From here you will head to the wonderful colonial town of Queretaro by bus. Make your own way to your hotel in downtown Queretaro which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a charming city with beautiful plazas and cobblestone streets. Here the Mexican revolution began making it one of the most historically distinguished cities in Mexico. During a tour through the city’s historical center you can enjoy a view of the impressive aqueduct, old monasteries and colourful alleys. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 5

Querétaro – Puebla (Bus ride)

After breakfast, take a cab to the bus station in Queretaro, because today you will travel south towards Puebla. Take a taxi to your hotel in the historic center of Puebla, the 4th largest city in Mexico and the capital of the state Puebla. It is a city full of colonial charm, history and famous for its location in the middle of four volcanoes. Explore Puebla and the large number of architecturally stunning churches. Don´t forget to try some of the regional delicacies that Puebla is famous for such as chiles en nogada and pastes. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 6

Puebla – Oaxaca (Bus ride)

After breakfast, make your way to the bus station in Puebla. From here you will take a bus to Oaxaca. After arriving in Oaxaca, take a cab to your hotel and you can use the rest of the day to explore the town on your own. Oaxaca is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and famous for its indigenous cultures and unique gastronomy. Oaxaca is famous for mezcal, dried grasshoppers, delicious mole dishes and the typical chocolate from the region. Visit the Templo de Santo Domingo de Guzman and the local market. Overnight stay. Day 7

Mitla, Tule, Teotitlan & Hierve el Agua (OPTIONAL)

After breakfast enjoy a quick stop at the world’s widest tree, the Tree of Tule, before continuing on to visit the archaeological site of Mitla with its ornate geometric mosaics. After exploring these ruins continue to the limestone waterfalls of Hierve el Agua, where you can take a refreshing dip in the mineral rich water with a breathtaking view of the surrounding area and the waterfalls. Relaxed and refreshed, return to Oaxaca where you can use the evening to stroll through the historic center and enjoy a delicious dinner in one of the many fantastic restaurants the city has to offer. Day 8

Monte Albán, City Tour Oaxaca & San Cristóbal (OPTIONAL)

After breakfast visit Monte Albán, the most distinguished archeological site of the region. Many years ago, Aldous Huxley, an American writer, was fascinated by this Zapotec city that is situated on an artificially flattened mountain. It will definitely impress you, too. Discover the site’s temples, pyramids, and ballcourts. Return to Oaxaca for your city tour through the colonial center. During your tour you will visit all the “must see” sites of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the evening you are brought to the bus terminal from where you will take the first-class bus to San Cristobal de las Casas at 20:30. Overnight trip. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel upon arrival)

Day 9

Indigenous Villages & City Tour (OPTIONAL)

At around 7:00 am arrive at your hotel in San Cristóbal de las Casas where you have just enough time for a quick breakfast before visiting the indigenous villages of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan where you will experience an authentic impression of the customs and lifestyle of the Tzotzilen and Tseltales, who are still living an autonomous and traditional way of life. Visit the colorful „Templo de San Juan“ and spend time with a Tzotzil family. In the afternoon a city tour of San Cristóbal de las Casas offers the chance to visit the local market and other famous highlights. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 10

Cañon de Sumidero (OPTIONAL)

After breakfast you will visit the famous and immense Cañon del Sumidero, which at its highest point reaches 1000 meters. Enjoy an exciting boat tour through the canyon, where an exotic world of flora and fauna is waiting for you. Afterwards, continue to the colonial village of Chiapa del Corzo where you can visit the beautiful church and still have enough time to enjoy your lunch. From Chiapa del Corzo you will return to San Cristóbal de las Casas. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 11

San Cristobal de las Casas – Palenque (Bus ride)

In the morning, take a cab to the bus station in San Cristobal de Las Casas where you will catch your bus to Palenque. After arriving take a cab to your hotel. Overnight stay. (Meals: Box lunch from the hotel)

OPTIONAL

Agua Azul & Misol Há – Palenque (Small group)

In the early morning you will visit the beautiful waterfalls of Agua Azul. Start your day with a refreshing dip in the turquoise shimmering water and the delicious taste of the famous empanadas. From here your tour leads to the impressive waterfalls of Misol Ha. Enjoy a final dip in the tranquil pool below the waterfalls before continuing on to Palenque. Afterwards you visit the famous archeological site of Palenque. It is not the largest, but it is definitely one of the most beautiful of the Maya cities because of its architectural fantasy and harmony with nature being found in the middle of the tropical jungle. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast on the tour)

Day 12

Palenque & Campeche (Bus ride)

In the morning, take a cab to the bus station in Palenque where you will continue by bus to Campeche. Here you can use the rest of the day to discover the little fishing village with its colorful houses on your own or simply relax and enjoy a trip back in time in this colonial city. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 13

Campeche – Merida (Bus ride)

According to your departure, take a cab to the bus station in Campeche where you will take a first class bus to Mérida. In Mérida, make your way to your hotel in the historic center. Use the rest of the day to explore Mérida on your own. Stroll through the colourful streets filled with charming plazas, impressive churches and historical monuments. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 14

Uxmal & Kabah (OPTIONAL)

In the morning head towards Uxmal, which is the Yucatan’s most important archeological site next to Chichen Itza. During your guided tour explore the pyramids of the fortuneteller and the wizard, the casa de las Monjas, the ballcourt and the Palacio del Gobernador until you move on to the next Maya site of Kabah. Admire the Palace of the masks which on it’s facade has hundreds of stone masks depicting the rain god Chaac. After enjoying another guided tour you return to your hotel in Merida. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel & lunch on the tour)

Day 15

Mérida – Chichén Itzá – Riviera Maya (Bus ride)

Early in the morning, take a cab to the bus station in Mérida and from there a bus to Chichen Itza, one of the Seven World Wonders and Mexico’s most famous and magnificently restored archeological excavations on the Yucatan Peninsula. Admire the monumental Kukulkan pyramid, which is also known as “El Castillo”, and explore the other impressive constructions this place has to offer. In the evening take a bus to Playa del Carmen, where you will begin your connection stay. Depending on where you are staying, take a cab to your hotel in Playa del Carmen, Tulum or Cancun. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Mérida – Chichén Itzá – Riviera Maya (Small group)

After breakfast, you are taken to Chichen Itza, one of the Seven Wonders of the World and Mexico’s most famous and magnificently restored archeological excavations on the Yucatan Peninsula. Admire the monumental Kukulkan pyramid, which is also known as “El Castillo”, and explore the other impressive constructions this place has to offer. After your guided tour you continue to the beautiful white sandy beaches of Playa del Carmen or Cancún where your connection stay begins. Transfer to the airport or Tulum available upon request and for an extra charge. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel & lunch on the tour)
