Day 1

Arrival in Mexico City

According to your time of arrival you are picked up from the airport or bus station in Mexico City and brought to your hotel. Overnight stay. (Meals: None)

Day 2

City Tour & Anthropological Museum (Small group)

After breakfast you are taken on a city tour. You will visit the huge Zocalo with its famous Cathedral and the Government Palace with its impressive murals by Diego Riviera, amongst others. To make the city tour perfect, it finishes with an informative visit of the Anthropological Museum which is situated on the brink of the Chapultepec Park. Afterwards you are brought back to your hotel. In the afternoon you have the chance to discover Mexico City on your own. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 3

Pyramids of Teotihuacán & Querétaro (Private)

Today you are off towards the impressive archeological site of Teotihuacán that is situated about 65 kilometers away from the city. It is the largest city of ruins in Latin America covering 22km² and a large portion is still yet to be excavated. You definitely should not miss out on climbing up the Sun and Moon Pyramids, as they provide an imposing view of the „City of the Gods“. Continue to the charming colonial city of Queretaro. Explore the cobblestone streets of the historic center and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere in one of the many beautiful plazas of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overnight stay. Day 4

Queretaro – Pinal de Amoles & Río Escanela – Jalpan (Private)

After breakfast stop at the small village of Pinal de Amoles where you will begin a 6 hour hike through the unique vegetation of the Sierra Gorda. There is a 1,000m difference in altitude and you will hike through pine forests as well as dense jungle vegetation. Stop at the beautiful Rio Escanela and the “Puente de Dios” lookout. Enjoy a refreshing dip in the cool mountain water before continuing your journey along a 250m high gorge. This boost of adrenaline will stay with you for the rest of your hike. Afterwards continue to Jalpan. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 5

Jalpan – Xilitla – Jalpan (Private)

After a traditional breakfast, you will spend a magical day in Xilitla. Visit the eccentric mansion and beautiful gardens which once belonged to Edward James. This surreal fusion between nature and concrete structures is so fascinating that artists such as Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso visited this location for inspiration. You will also feel inspired by abstract sculptures and stairways hidden deep in the dense jungle. Afterwards enjoy some free time to relax and swim in the waterfalls and natural pools which are nearby or try the exciting zip-line in town. In the afternoon return to Jalplan. Overnight stay. Day 6

Jalpan – El Chuveje & Bernal – Mexico City (Private)

Today, visit the stunning Franciscan Mission of Jalpan. It was established in 1744 and has a beautifully ornate facade. Continue to the El Chuveje waterfalls where you can enjoy a quick dip in the natural pools before continuing on to the colonial town of Bernal. Here you get to climb the world’s third largest monolith for a spectacular view over the surrounding landscape. Legend states that good luck will come to those who climb the Peña de Bernal. In the afternoon continue to Mexico city. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 7

Paso Cortés & Mirador „La Joya“ (Private)

After breakfast enjoy another hiking adventure. This time the hike will take you to Paso Cortés and the Popocatéptl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes. An old Aztec legend tells the tale of these volcanoes as lovers whose love ended tragically. Your hike begins at Paso Cortés at 3700m, under the watchful eyes of the snow capped volcanoes and continues through rugged and beautiful terrain. Reach the lookout of Mirador La Joya for a fantastic view and photographic opportunities of the two volcanoes. Enjoy a short break before continuing to the small village of Amecameca. Visit the lively market and soak up the atmosphere of this charming village before returning to Mexico City. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 8

Mexico City – Cholula – Puebla (Private)

After breakfast you will head towards Puebla with your private guide. The first stop is at the colorful temple Santa María Tonantzintla where indigenous culture collides with Christianity in beautiful representations. Afterwards continue to the enormous Pyramid of Cholula. Explore the numerous altars and structures before continuing to Puebla. Enjoy a guided tour of this charming colonial town and its historic center filled with elaborate churches and ornate Government buildings. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 9 & 10

Puebla – La Malinche – Oaxaca (Private)

Today you will visit the impressive volcano “La Malinche”. Due to the high altitudes in this region a short hike at the base of the volcano helps with acclimatization. In the evening, a light dinner is served. Spend the night in the quaint cabins of the Malinche base. After breakfast the next morning enjoy a hike of approx 4500 m to the top of the volcano for spectacular views over the surrounding landscape. Rest in the warm Mexican sun and explore the unique terrain and vegetation of the dormant volcano. Hike back down the volcano back to base camp. In the evening you will be taken to the bus station to catch your bus to Oaxaca. After arriving at around 24:00hrs you will be transferred to your hotel. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast + 1 lunch + 1 Dinner in the hotel)

Day 11

Mitla, Tule & Hierve el Agua (Small group)

After breakfast enjoy a quick stop at the world’s widest tree, the Tree of Tule, before continuing on to visit the archaeological site of Mitla with its ornate geometric mosaics. After exploring these ruins continue to the limestone waterfalls of Hierve el Agua, where you can take a refreshing dip in the mineral rich water with a breathtaking view of the surrounding area and the waterfalls. Relaxed and refreshed, return to Oaxaca where you can use the evening to give the regional specialties a try. Oaxaca is famous for mezcal, dried grasshoppers, delicious mole dishes and the typical chocolate from the region. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 12

Monte Albán, City Tour Oaxaca – San Cristóbal (Small group)

After breakfast visit Monte Albán, the most distinguished archeological site of the region. Many years ago, Aldous Huxley, an American writer, was fascinated by this Zapotec city that is situated on an artificially flattened mountain. It will definitely impress you, too. Discover the site’s temples, pyramids, and ballcourts. Return to Oaxaca for your city tour through the colonial center. During your tour you will visit all the “must see” sites of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the evening you are brought to the bus terminal from where you will take the first class bus to San Cristobal de las Casas at 20:30. Overnight trip. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 13

Cañon del Sumidero (Small group)

At around 7:30 am arrive at your hotel in San Cristóbal de las Casas where you have just enough time for a quick breakfast before visiting the famous and immense Cañon del Sumidero, which at its highest point reaches 1000 meters. Enjoy an exciting boat tour through the canyon, where an exotic world of flora and fauna is waiting for you. Afterwards, continue to the colonial village of Chiapa del Corzo where you can visit the beautiful church and still have enough time to enjoy your lunch. From Chiapa del Corzo you will return to San Cristóbal de las Casas. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 14

Horseback Ride to Indigenous Villages (Private)

After breakfast, visit a nearby ranch to begin a horseback adventure to the villages of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan where you will experience an authentic impression of the customs and lifestyle of the Tzotzilen and Tseltales, who are still living an autonomous and traditional way of life. Visit the colorful „Templo de San Juan“ and spend time with a Tzotzil family. In the afternoon a city tour of San Cristóbal de las Casas offers the chance to visit the local market and other famous highlights. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 15

San Cristóbal – Agua Azul & Misol Há – Palenque (Small group)

In the early morning you will visit the beautiful waterfalls of Agua Azul. Start your day with a refreshing dip in the turquoise shimmering water and the delicious taste of the famous empanadas. From here your tour leads to the impressive waterfalls of Misol Ha. Enjoy a final dip in the tranquil pool below the waterfalls before continuing on to Palenque. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the hotel)

Day 16

Palenque – Yaxchilan (Private)

Today you will visit the archaeological site of Yaxchilan. On the way enjoy a traditional breakfast in a small authentic restaurant. In order to get to this remote site, you must take a 22 km boat ride along the Usumacinta river deep in the jungle. These ruins are way off the beaten path and rarely visited by tourists. As such there are monkeys, rare tropical birds and lots of jungle creatures to be observed. After a guided tour of the ruins, continue to your quaint jungle cabins where you will have dinner and can fall asleep to the sights and sounds of the Lacandon jungle. Overnight stay. Day 17

Bonampak & Lacandonen Indigenous – Palenque (Private)

After breakfast visit the archaeological site of Bonampak. This site is famous for its well preserved murals and monuments of Chan Muan II. Explore the numerous temples and ruins still covered with dense jungle vegetation as this site was only discovered in 1946. Afterwards meet up with your local Lacandon guide who during a 3 hour hike explains the native indigenous culture still largely untouched by modern society. Stop at tranquil jungle cenotes and waterfalls to cool down in the refreshing turquoise water. Admire the tropical flora and fauna and in the afternoon continue to Palenque. Overnight stay. Day 18

Palenque & Campeche (Private)

After breakfast visit the famous archeological site of Palenque. It is not the largest, but it is definitely one of the most beautiful of the Maya cities because of its architectural fantasy and harmony with nature being found in the middle of the tropical jungle. Next you are on your way to Campeche, where you can use the rest of the day to discover the little fishing village with its colorful houses on your own or simply relax and enjoy a trip back in time in this colonial city. Day 19

Campeche – Uxmal – Mérida (Private)

Enjoy a city tour in Campeche in the morning, whose historical center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999 and whose cuisine is one of a kind. Be sure to try the local specialty “cochinita pibil”. You will then leave Campeche towards Uxmal, which is the Yucatan’s most important archeological excavation, apart from Chichen Itza before continuing on to Mérida, better known as the „white city.“ Here you will have a quick city tour before being brought to your hotel. Day 20

Mérida – Chichén Itzá – Cancun or Playa del Carmen (Small group)

After breakfast visit Chichen Itza, one of the Seven Wonders of the World and Mexico’s most famous and magnificently restored archeological excavation for a guided tour. Admire the monumental Kukulkan pyramid, which is also known as „El Castillo“ and a variety of other impressive constructions this magical place has to offer. Depending on the rest of your vacation you are brought to your hotel in Cancun or Playa del Carmen for your beach vacation.
