Day 1

Arrival in Querétaro

After your arrival at the airport or bus station in Querétaro, you will take a taxi to your hotel into the historic center. Overnight stay. (Meals: None)

Day 2

Querétaro (Private)

After breakfast, you will get to know your guide and begin the day with a guided walking tour through the historical city center of Querétaro which is a breathtaking UNESCO world heritage site. Amongst others you see the central square Plaza de la Independencia, the Convent de la Cruz, the famous aqueduct of Querétaro and the Casa de la Marquesa, one of the most beautiful and impressive colonial gems in the city. The next stop is the pyramid “El Cerrito” which is located just outside of the city, as well as the church of the virgin of Schönstatt. The final stop of the day will be the historical site where Maximilian from Habsburg was executed by the French in 1867. The rest of the afternoon you can use to explore the city center by yourself, before you meet the team of Buenos Dias Mexico for a traditional Mexican dinner. Overnight stay. Day 3

The Wine & Cheese Route (Private)

In the morning you will be picked up at your hotel to begin your culinary journey through the regions around Querétaro. Over the last few years this region has become more and more renowned for the production of Mexican as well as European style cheese. It is also now the second largest wine producing region of Mexico, right after Baja California. The first stop today is the dairy of “Rancho Santa Maria”, which is famous for the production of organic sheep milk cheese. You have the chance to inspect the facilities and of course try the different cheese produced here. The trip continues to the dairy of “Quesos Vai”, where the process of cheese production is explained to you. Afterwards visit the wineries of “La Redonda” and “Los Azteca”. Here you will enjoy a walk through the vineyards and take part in a wine tasting. Your day ends with a city tour through the picturesque colonial town of Bernal. Enjoy the rest of your evening on the beautiful terrace of your hotel, where you have a stunning view on the Peña de Bernal. Overnight stay. (Meals: breakfast in the hotel)

Day 4

Bernal, Cacti Cultivation, Opal mine & Querétaro (Private)

After a delicious breakfast, start your day by climbing the Peña de Bernal, the third highest monolith in the world. Hike approximately 60 meters to the lookout where you have an amazing 360° view of the surrounding landscape. The unique panorama is worth the effort and you can enjoy the morning sun on top of the monolith. After the descent, the more relaxing part of the day begins and you will visit the greenhouse “Quinta Schmoll” in Cadereyta. This is one of the most important cacti cultivations on the American continent and has more than 5000 species of succulents and cacti growing in their natural habitat. Continue your trip to Tequisquiapan, where you can enjoy lunch in the historical city center. Tequisquiapan is the ideal place for any art lover and is full of antique shops. Afterwards you will visit an opal mine. To arrive at the mine, you have to take an adventurous drive in a jeep. Get deep into the mine to see how the mining process works and you have the possibility to process your own opal. You also view the factory, where the raw opals are processed into precious art pieces and jewelry. In the late afternoon you return to your hotel in Querétaro. Overnight stay. Day 5

Departure

Depending on the rest of your vacation you will take a taxi to the airport or bus station in Queretaro. (Meals: breakfast in the hotel)
