Day 1

Arrival in Tijuana – Ensenada

After arriving in Tijuana, you will be welcomed at the airport by a Buenos Días México representative who will help you obtain your rental car. With the keys in your hands you are off on your Baja California adventure and can drive to your hotel in Ensenada. Overnight stay. (Meals: None)

Distance: approx. 115 km, approx. 1 1/2 Hours

Day 2
Ensenada – San Quintín

After breakfast take some time to explore the city of Ensenada. Visit the enormous Mexican flag and stroll along the boardwalk, or visit a local market. Stop at the Santo Tomas Winery which was established in 1888 and has a fantastic collection of red wine. Continue to La Bufadora which is one of the largest marine geysers in the world. After a refreshing spray of cool salt water mist continue to the town of San Quintín. Overnight stay (Meals: Breakfast in the Hotel)

Day 3

San Quintín – Cataviña

Today, explore the small fishing village of San Quintín. If you like outdoor activities there is plenty to see and do. Rent a kayak, snorkel off the San Martin Island in crystal clear water or visit Punta San Carlos where you can surf or kiteboard. The Old Mill is a famous launch point for anglers and there are numerous species such as yellowfin tuna, dorado and sea bass to keep any fishing enthusiast busy. Relax on the beach and enjoy fresh caught clams from the region before continuing to Cataviña. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the Hotel)

Day 4

Cataviña – Bahía de los Ángeles (Small group)

After breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to visit the cave paintings found near Cataviña. On this magical excursion you will hike into the unique landscape which Cataviña is known for. Wind erosion has carved massive pink granite boulders into abstract shapes while 15m cacti tower majestically above you. It is a special atmosphere and here is where you can observe the well preserved paintings in the abandoned caves found in the region. Afterwards you are returned to your hotel where you will continue to Bahía de los Ángeles on your own. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the Hotel)

Day 5

Bahía de los Ángeles – Guerrero Negro (Small group)

After breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel for an exciting boat tour around Bahía de los Ángeles. In the summer months enjoy a tour of the bay observe the enormous whale shark which is the world’s largest non-mammal vertebrate. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to snorkel beside these gentle giants. In the winter months, it is possible to observe fin whales, grey whales and sea turtles. After this once in a lifetime opportunity you are returned to your hotel where you will then drive to Guerrero Negro. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the Hotel)

Day 6

Guerrero Negro – Laguna de Ojo de Liebre – San Ignacio(Small group)

Today you get the opportunity to enjoy another whale watching adventure. During the whale watching season (Jan-March) travel to the Ojo de Liebre Lagoon which is located in the Vizcaíno Biosphere Reserve for a boat tour. During their migration the gentle grey whales come to the protected waters of the lagoon to have their babies. Every season over 2,000 grey whales gather in the lagoon and it is an unforgettable experience to witness. Outside of the whale watching season, visit the world’s largest salt extraction plant. It is a surreal flat white empty landscape which produces over 7.5 million tons of salt each year. Afterwards you will visit a bird sanctuary before being brought back to your hotel. Drive to San Ignacio. Overnight stay (Meals: Breakfast in the Hotel)

OPTIONAL:

During the whale watching season an additional overnight stay in San Ignacio and an all day trip to observe the gray whales in the San Ignacio Lagoon is possible.

Day 7

San Ignacio – Sierra San Francisco – San Ignacio (Small group)

After breakfast you will be picked up by your guide and start your tour to the beautiful wild mountains of the Sierra San Francisco. Here you will visit the impressive prehistoric rock art pictographs found all over the outcroppings and caves of the region. These paintings depict religious rites, hunting rituals, animal imagery and war and weaponry of the Cochimi people. These paintings form the most important pre-historic rock painting collection on the entire American continent and were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. The Cueva Raton is particularly impressive and provides a spectacular view of the surrounding canyon and landscape. In the afternoon return to San Ignacio. Overnight Stay. Day 8

San Ignacio – Sta. Rosalía, Oase Mulegé & Bahía Concepción – Loreto

In the morning drive to the former mining town of Santa Rosalia and visit the famous steel church of Santa Barbara built by Gustav Eiffeln. Continue to the Mulege oasis which is one of the most beautiful cities in Baja California. Stop at the Franciscan Mission built in 1705 and enjoy the spectacular view of desert palms and cacti surrounding the oasis. Finally the beaches of Bahía Concepcion offer a peaceful paradise to relax and enjoy a refreshing dip in the turquoise water before continuing on to Loreto. Overnight stay. Day 9

Loreto – La Paz

Today you have the opportunity to discover Loreto which is the oldest city in Baja California. Visit the historical center of the first Spanish settlement and the many Missions located in the region. Or enjoy one of the many outdoor activities offered in the region, such as kayaking, diving, fishing, hiking or horseback riding. In the afternoon drive to La Paz. Overnight stay. (Meals: Breakfast in the Hotel)

Day 10

Nationalpark Archipel Espíritu Santo (Small group)

After breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel and brought to the docks in La Paz, where you will enjoy an exciting boat trip to the National Park Espíritu Santo Archipelago. This desert island complex is a must see in the Gulf of California. On this trip you have the opportunity to observe a variety of sea birds, including the famous blue footed boobys, pelicans, cormorants and egrets. The waters around the island can surprise visitors with groups of dolphins, playful sea lions and with a little luck even whales. The highlight of today’s trip is the chance to snorkel or swim with the sea lions. After the boat trip relax for a picnic on one of the beautiful and isolated beaches of the islands. In the evening you will be brought back to your hotel in La Paz. Overnight stay.

Day 11

La Paz – Todos Santos & Cabo San Lucas – San José del Cabo

In the morning stop at the town of Todos Santos which is famous for its colonial charm and artistic creativity. Stroll the cobblestone streets and explore the many galleries and cafes. Visit the Santa Rosa de las Palmas Mission as well as the Hotel California made popular by the classic Eagles song. Continue to Cabo San Lucas for a boat ride to the famous landmark and rock formation known as “Los Arcos”. In the afternoon drive to your all inclusive hotel in San José del Cabo and relax on the beach. (Meals: Breakfast in the Hotel & All Inclusive Services in San José del Cabo)

Day 12

Day of Departure

After breakfast it is time to say goodbye to this beautiful and welcoming country. Drive to the airport in Los Cabos where you will return your rental car and depending on the rest of your trip catch a flight home or begin your beach vacation. (Meals: All inclusive services in the Hotel)

      • Since Europcar charges a security deposit for each car rental which increases depending on category, a credit card is needed.
      • The rental car needs to be returned to the Europcar offices as specified in the itinerary. It is not possible to leave the rental car at the hotel. Upon request Europcar offers a transfer to the hotel once the rental car is returned.
